Nava's Belated Bday Celebration.

We went to one of those Middle Eastern Restaurants along Arab Street to have Nava's Post Birthday celebration. Tucked into Mushroom Fish (that's really what its called), cheesecake and some Egyptian dessert; it was truly heaven on a plate. I don't think my tastebuds have ever been so fully engaged in my life. Lingered in the restaurant for a while to watch the Arab music videos playing. Nowhere as risque as their Western counterparts but no less titillating in my opinion :P. Headed to a nearby halal bakery so Nadiah could buy bread for her family. The bread looked so tempting but I decided to control my still ravenous appetite for further eating. We cabbed to Little India and met Lestari, before walking to some Indian-Chinese restaurant for more glorious food! Fried rice, chicken suka, Thai style spicy tofu, seafood hokkien mee...yay! Thoroughly stuffed after our gastronomic exploits, we trained to Vivo because Lestari was still a Vivo virgin and wanted to get to know the place more intimately. So began a long and tiring and ultimately fruitless search for Nava's Oreo cheesecake. But we did see performers from Mexico and Italy I think touring the mall. Saw the group off at the MRT and did some window-shopping, and finally going home alone.

Basketball Girl's Finals

I skipped Econs Tutorial to support the Basketball Girl's Finals at Toa Payoh Stadium. So issue me that white slip =P.

We lost the game 53-50!!! But I guess no-one must be feeling the heartbreak as strongly as the basketballers. We were down thrice, managing to catch up until the final time. I think the many penalties awarded to the VJ team were actually more damaging then the layups and hoops shot in. Cheered my lungs out and felt the Rafflesian spirit for more than a fleeting moment. Seems like its events like these which brings out the elusive Spirit in everyone.

I spotted David, clad in his trademark gray singlet, which made him highly recognisable. He was there to watch the A Div' Boy Finals, HCI VS IJC. Didn't catch sight of any ex-classmates amongst the deluge of HCI people. Dang...Would have loved to do some catching up. By the 1st half, it was 23-09 and since I was fairly sure IJC's fate was sealed, I left for home.

GP Commons

I am glad I didn't study for it. Not that being on msn doing absolutely nothing is any more constructive but oh wells :P. Hope I can wrangle a B. Ate lunch with the 3Q girls at LongHouse before heading to the Singapore Island Country Club (courtesy of Pam)for a KTV session. While some of us chose to engage in Bridge, I lazed around and sang a couple of songs. Guess it helps when no-one is laughing at you; makes your singing sound more palatable. At around 3, we took a Cocoa Trees van (courtesy of Pam again) to the Home Team Academy, situated in some ulu place in Choa Chu Kang (I hear some of you asking "Where is that?".) I did some exploring of the place and chatted with Stephanie, my Sec 3 and 4 classmate, now an ACS (I) councillor before the game commenced. Saw lots of familiar faces too: Terence, Darren, Ming Rue, Melu jsut to name a few.

And Yes! WE BEAT OUR ARCH-RIVALS ACS (I) 12-10!

The cheering must have boosted the morale of the rugby player, who must certainly be applauded for their show of tencity and ruggedness (pun not intended). Despite being down several times in the game, they bounced to level the score and eventually, there was extra time. The golden moment came when an RJ rugger kicked the ball between the 2 pole thingies and SCORED!!! Needless to say, there was a paroxysm of euphoria and people streamed from the stands to the field to congratulate the ruggers. What makes victory even sweeter is that ACS (I) is a ruby powerhouse who has been bagging the gold for...I can't quite remember how many years. Kudos to the rugby team who has done RJ proud =)! I couldn't help but notice the medic attended to the RJ players more then the ACS (I) ones.

ICare CIP!

The guy contact is a veritable saint! Not only did he not mind us slacking away most of the time while the S'pore Poly people did most of the work, he offered us Coke, mineral water and Starbucks muffins. He gave us time to go off for lunch (which we overshot) with a whopping TWENTY DOLLARS of allowance (which Nava wasted buying plates of food she didn't finish. Tsk Tsk). He let Nava and Puva roam the Suntec Health Fair since they were bored and told them to report anything interesting to him (That explains the Egyptian dude photo...) . And...He gave us CIP HOURS and wrote a glowing testimonial for Nava. What else can I say...? May all the supernatural powers and deities and entities like luck bless Adrian =)! Oh, oh and there was a major photowhoring session ;).

Looking sad because we didn't finish our food....=(

A Night with Samuel Beckett

Samuel Beckett plays are waaayy too abstract for my liking and comprehension. I am no ardent reader of plays so I didn't quite expect to understand some of the themes fleshed out. But until Lest enlightened CT and me with her much-needed commentary, we, and I suspect a greater part of the audience, were watching in silent albeit weary puzzlement as the initial anticipation gradually faded. The ending of the plays did not reward the patience of the audience. The central theme running through the four plays was the futility of life, related to absurdism. The spectre of death was looming in every play; not advisable if you're feeling already depressed or worse, suicidal. Wasn't a very good showcase of acting chops since most of the lines were delivered in a expressionless, monotone ramble. There was one line that I really liked "She said I can smell you on him. He smelled of bitch."
